EMS Instructor CEU Workshop

The workshop will be held Friday January 27th and Saturday January 28th in Magnolia, Arkansas. Participants can earn up to 12 Hours of Instructor Level CEUs. The new rules and regs now require 12 Instructor Level CEU to renew.

On Friday we will have an evening workshop called “Conquering Our Giants.” We will address some of the giants that we face as training officers and instructors. Greg Brown will be coming down to address the NCCP renewal process. He will explain “what” it is and how to implement it. He will also answer any questions that you have. In order for him to be able to provide the best answer possible, we have included a “Question Form” that we are asking you to submit with your registration. We will forward your questions and concerns to Greg so that he will be able to research them and provide you with an answer Friday night. We will also address other hot topics such as scenario based practical exams, clinical site concerns and test item writing. 4 Instructor CEU
Pre-Registration is not required for the Friday night session; however, for planning purposes it is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

On Saturday, the “one and only KC Jones” will be doing an all day workshop called “Energizing The Classroom.” 8 Instructor CEU
Due to the nature of the Saturday workshop we are requiring participants to pre-register. Once you have registered you will receive an email with pre-class instructions for that session.
Even if you don’t “need” the CEU to renew, this is still an incredible opportunity to network with colleagues, address concerns you are facing and learn new strategies for your classroom! Company Training Officers can also benefit, especially from the NCCP session.
A special room rate is available for only $91 plus tax at the Hampton Inn in Magnolia. Make reservations early to guarantee a room.
If you have any questions you can email me or call/text (870)904-1573.

AEMTA Instructor Society Meeting Minutes for 8/2/14

Meeting was called to order at 12:03

Dee Shaw, Secretary, could not be reached, therefore, minutes from previous meetings could not be obtained.

Leon Cheatham delivered the Treasurer’s Report. He stated that when he accepted the position, there was a total of $5100 in our bank account. There is now a total of $5197.98 in the account following the Instructor Retreat. Leon asked that we consider turning the funds over to the General AEMTA program.

A motion to accept this report was made by Joe Chappell and seconded by KC Jones.
Millie Allen presented the report for the Best Practice subcommittee. They are looking at the possibility of starting a mentorship program for instructors. There was a mixed reaction from those in attendance. At this point, we were reminded that the Arkansas Dept. of Health Section of EMS holds us accountable for our classes and their success. Amy Berryman from the Section of EMS informed us that they have split the state into regions and announced the names of the EMS Specialist for each region:

Northwest – Eryn Cone

Northeast – Scott Gann

Southwest – Jamie Clarke

Central – Amy Berryman

Southeast – Amy Berryman (temporarily until that position is filled).

Amy also advised us to contact the specialist for our individual region to get to know them.

Dwayne Alseth made a motion to appoint 3 people to look at the bylaws of the Instructor Society and to have a report due 90 days prior to Spring Fling to present any possible changes. This motion was seconded by KC Jones.

Elections were also made during this meeting. The new officers are:

President – Scott Endres, Vice President – David Jones, Secretary – Carrie Steward, Treasurer – Millie Allen

A motion was made by Janelle Johnson to send notices to instructors about their renewal for this society. This was seconded by Amy Cox.

There was a motion to adjourn at 1:00 by David Jones and seconded by Amy Cox.

Instructors Letter

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers and active members of the Arkansas Instructor’s Society for their undying desire to improve skills for all instructors throughout Arkansas.  This group of officers has worked diligently to recognize the needs of every instructor in Arkansas an address most of their concerns.  Also, this group has really made my trip as president of the Arkansas Instructor’s Society a very enjoyable journey.  It has been my honor to serve as your president.  Can’t believe I have just one more year remaining.
