Employment Opportunity – Director of Clinical Education for EMS Program

National Park College, Hot Springs Arkansas is seeking a Director of Clinical Education for the Emergency Medical Sciences Program.

Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction in the EMT Program, as well as student advising and college committee work.  Clinical instruction involves on and off campus activities. The position requires teamwork and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for coordinating clinical assignments for student rotations as well as documentation associated with clinical rotations in the EMSP programs (EMT, Paramedic).

This 9 month position reports to the Emergency Medical Sciences Program Chair and includes a generous benefit package. Start date will be August 19, 2019.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements

Applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services / Paramedic; an associate degree considered.  A master’s degree in emergency medical services, fire science, or related field is preferred.  Other job related experience may substitute for some educational requirements.

Qualified applicant should possess a National Registered Paramedic, state license and emergency medical provider instructor certification. Preference will be given to candidates with recent teaching experience.

Vital Link EMS is a private, non-profit, public benefit corporation that provides emergency, non-emergency, and disaster response services to Independence, Izard, Stone, and northern Cleburne counties in north central Arkansas. Vital Link has been in operation since 1983 and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services since 2003. Vital Link has a competitive salary and benefits package.
The Paramedic will Restore and Promote patients health by administering life support and transport the sick and injured persons in the out-of-hospital setting as authorized by established medical protocol or physician; activating and collaborating with the emergency medical system multidisciplinary team; meeting CAAS accreditation standards; and working to assure the accomplishment of Vital Link goals. The Paramedic shifts will mainly be 48 hours on and 96 hours off.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
– High School or equivalency diploma.
– Arkansas Paramedic License; Nationally Registered Paramedic preferred.
– Current CPR and ACLS certification with the American Heart Association.
– Valid Arkansas Driver’s License.

In this position you must demonstrate knowledge of Basic and Advanced Life Support Theory and skills as it relates to our clinical area. Must also be knowledgeable in the use of all equipment utilized in the department, as well as demonstrate proficiency in practical skills such as, but not limited to, medication administration, intubation, EKG monitoring/interpretation and establishing IV access. Knowldege in the Theory and Practice of E.M.S. operations is a must, as is familiarity with standard protocols and continually maintain a professional working relationship with ER staff, physicians, EMT’s and dispatchers.
Requirements:
  • Current Arkansas EMT-P certification.
  • Current ACLS and BCLS certified.
  • Approximately 1500 hours previous experience as an EMT-A or EMT-P.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Current Arkansas drivers license  Record must meet and maintain all requirements set forth by the hospital insurance carrier.

 

Previous experience preferred but not required.
Schedule:  24 Hour Shifts
