Scotty Wayne Newmam

Scotty Wayne Newman, 49, of Calmer, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center due to an auto accident. Scotty was born on May 20, 1967, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, the son of Paul Wayne Newman and Linda Rushing Newman, of Calmer.

Scotty was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, of Calmer. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, Cleveland County, May 24, 1985. He also graduated from UTI, as a Certified Diesel Mechanic, of Houston, Texas, 1985; EMT-1 from Arkansas Fire Academy, Camden, Arkansas, 1987; Paramedic and Nursing Pre-requisite degree from Great Rivers Community College, McGehee, Arkansas, 1988; received his Register Nurse Diploma, Southeast Arkansas Community College, McGehee, Arkansas, August, 1990; Jefferson School of Nursing, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, May, 2004; Scotty was certified in Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course, American Academy of Pediatrics=PEPP Course and the National Clandestine Meth Laboratories Training Program. Scotty was also certified as ACLS, PALS, PEPP Trained, 1st Basic Training Brigade, PHTLS. Scotty served as a Certified Volunteer Firefighter for the Woodlawn Fire Department and served as the Cleveland County Deputy Coroner. Scotty served in the United States Army Reserve as a Wire Systems Installer and Combat Life Saver from 1986-1988.

Scotty is survived by his parents, Paul and Linda Newman; his wife, Stacey Johnson Newman; daughter, Shelbi Cheyenne Newman; 2 step-daughters, Carly Johnson and Amanda Johnson Bennett; brother, Steven Lynn Newman, all of Calmer; sister, Stacy Newman Coleman of White Hall; 1 step-grandson, Aiden Bennett; niece, Sydine Newman of Crescent, OK; and three nephews, Brendan, Chaney and Nicholas Coleman of White Hall.

Funeral services are 2:00PM Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Daryl Sellers, Bro. Kyle Underwood and Bro. Greg Upperman officiating. Visitation is 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial at Newman Cemetery. Woodlawn Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
