Billy Joe Rutherford –EMT# 20817

October 17, 1956 – February 22, 2016

Billy Joe Rutherford 59, of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas, Monday, February 22, 2016. Joe was born October 17, 1956 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Billy Tom and Joyce Tally Rutherford. He had worked as a retail store clerk.

He was a member of the Beach Street Baptist Church of Gurdon, Arkansas, a retired Gurdon volunteer fireman and also an EMT. Joe loved taking care of people.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Homer and Mattie Tally and Ed and Vera Rutherford; two brother in laws, Lew Chappelle and Jack Dickens.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Rutherford of Gurdon, Arkansas; two brothers, Jerry Rutherford and wife Lori of Gurdon, Arkansas and Bryan Rutherford and wife Michelle of Gurdon, Arkansas; two sisters, Pam Rutherford Chappelle of Gurdon, Arkansas and Melissa Rutherford Dickens of Gurdon, Arkansas; two nieces, Nicki Leamons and Grace Rutherford; one nephew, J T Dickens; two great nephews, Riley and Sawyer Leamons and a host of extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 between the hours of 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.

Services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon, Arkansas with Bro. Randy Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery under the direction of the Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.

Come join us in Eureka Springs for another great Conference! This year we are Very Excited about the ADH Trauma, Preparedness and EMS Branch who are presenting Improvised Explosive Devices, Biological and Radiological emergencies in presentations that all have hands on participation by the audience. Greg Brown will introduce this newly organized Branch of the Department of Health.

We will also have BLS, ALS, and Fire/Rescue tracks with great presentations many with hands on activities. There will be an active shooter class with demonstration of how EMS and law enforcement officers can work together perform rapid lifesaving treatments and evacuation long before we were able to do so in the past. There is also a high angle rescue class and a canine search demonstration. See attached agenda.

FARMEDIC Provider Course is here!

March 9 – 10, 2016

This course is taught be certified FARMEDIC instructors and combines classroom training with hands-on exercises.

The FARMEDIC modules to be covered are: Tractor Overturns, PTO Entanglements, Machinery Entanglements, Grain Bin Emergencies, Silo Emergencies, Manure Storage Emergencies, Chemical Emergencies, Electrical Emerges, and Reporting Farm Emergencies.The course is divided over 2 full days.This course is open to physicians, nurses, all level of EMTs, and first responders.

Heather Danielle Stroud EMT#25094


Heather Danielle Stroud, 29, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born December 19, 1986, at Little Rock, Arkansas, to Robbie Stroud, Jr. and Denise (Campbell) Stroud, and she died Monday, February 8, 2016.

She graduated Beebe High School in 2005, and Hendrix College in 2009, with a Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health. She was a student at Pulaski Tech pursuing her nursing degree. Heather worked for UAMS in the Emergency Department. She had worked as an EMT since 2008, a year before she graduated college.

Heather is survived by her parents; her grandmother, Joan King; aunts, Debbie Linkous (Jim) and Connie Stroud; uncle Roger Campbell (Patty); cousins Riley, Dustin, Destin and Caitlyn; special great aunt, Louise Baskin; and her four legged friend, Rookie.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robbie and Olga Stroud; step-grandfather, Milford King; and uncles Gary Campbell and John Stroud.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.
