March 21, 1959 – September 28, 2015

Gregory (Greg) Will entered this life on March 21, 1959. Parenting came from his beloved mother, Willie Mae Roberson, stepfather, Alexander Roberson, and father, James Sonny Wills. Greg graduated from Rison High School in 1977, completed ninety hours as an art major at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden, Arkansas.

As a child, Greg loved to spend time playing with his siblings and cousins. When his mother asked which child did something wrong, Greg would tell the truth, even if “HE” did the wrong. Long before he became an adult and entered law enforcement, Greg believed in law and order, and he always encouraged others to do the right thing.

He worked proudly as a police officer for the Pine Bluff Police Department from 1986 until his retirement in 2013.
Greg loved his dogs, drawing art, playing his harmonica, and using his skills as a metal fabricator to build B-B-Q grills. Before he became a police officer, Greg was a Volunteer EMT for Ron Lusby’s, and he served as a Volunteer Firefighter for the Highway 133 Fire Department. Greg was a Mason and a FOP Lodge Member.

Fond memories shared by siblings include Greg never allowing anyone to read the newspaper before he read it, and if anyone read the paper before him, he would not read it at all. Reading was one of his favorite pastimes, and Greg could read a book of 500 pages in less than an hour. His siblings laughed when fondly remembering that Greg, a future police officer, took great pleasure in his ability to perfectly forge his mother’s signature on his school homework when it needed a parent’s signature.

Greg was respected because he could speak his mind truthfully and gently without hurting others’ feelings. He had a way of making people feel special, and when he said, “I love you,” it was heartfelt. Greg was unique, kind, funny, strong, gentle, unpredictable, but outspoken when necessary, and his memory will forever be lovingly cherished.

Greg went from his earthly home on September 28, 2015 at St.Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. His parents and brother, Kru’Shee Dadney, preceded him in death.

Greg leaves to cherish great memories: mentored daughter, Tashayla Jackson; three sisters, Dr. Sherrill (Dr. Cleveland) Rayford; Jennifer (Kenneth) Holmes, Taraisa (Mike) Wills-Vaughn. Brothers include Karl Roberson, Calvin Roberson, Maury (Cheryl) Wills, and Ladell Wills. He called Hildra Urquehart his special sister, and his special Brother in Blue is Lieutenant Michael Jenkins, Sr.

Greg loved a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends who visited or prayed for him while he was hospitalized.

A very special thank you is extended to the hospice staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.

His funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Christian Way Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the funeral home 5:00pm till 7:00 pm.
