John E. Derrick, age 61, of Hot Springs, died Monday, March 23, 2015.
He was born on March 1, 1954 in Hobbs, New Mexico. On October 2, 1987, he was married to Marsha Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Pat Derrick; and his mother and step-father, Sarah and Drex Sade.
John was a member of Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a dispatcher for the Hot Springs Police Department, the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, Lifemobile and LifeNet.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Derrick; one son, Wesley Derrick; two daughters and one son-in-law, Beth and David Maxie and Mary Derrick; two step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Dr. Shane Sparks and Dr. Deborah Moss and Ben and Yvonne Sparks; four grandchildren, Blake Sparks, Brooke Sparks, Emma Sparks and Zach Sparks; and one sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and David Anderson.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs with Bro. Buddy Leamons and Bro. Joe Thompson officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Bob Radley, Steve Ward, Travis Hall and his Sunday school class at Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church
