Johnny Lynn Cooper Sr., age 50, of Traskwood, passed away Saturday, November 22 at SMH Hospice House in Bryant, Arkansas after a 6 ½ year battle with cancer.
He was born February 24, 1964 in Malvern, Arkansas to Gerry White Cooper and the late Muriel Cooper of Traskwood. Johnny is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents: Arnold and Launa Cooper, Tommie and Susie White and Evelyn White.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his children: son, Johnny Lynn Cooper Jr. of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Sarah and Matt McGinty of Benton and Christian Cooper of the home; grandchildren, Brody, Easton and Ryleigh of Benton; siblings, Jimmy and Heather Cooper and Jill and Loren Crow all of Traskwood; nieces and nephews, Emilee and Devin Butler of Perryville, Adelia Cooper, Hayes, Evan and Laci Crow all of Traskwood; great-nephew and niece, Weston and Kinlee Butler of Perryville and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.

Johnny had over 30 years of service in the Fire/EMS field beginning in 1980 with Turtle Creek Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, Mountain View Fire Department, Eureka Springs Fire/EMS Department, MedTran EMS, Lusby’s EMS and Stone County EMS, serving as firefighter, Captain, EMT and Paramedic.

He was a member of Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Glen Rose, Lew Road Hunting Club and known to be the Glen Rose Beaver’s #1 Fan who hardly ever missed a game, even when he was very sick.

Pallbearers will be Mark Warford, Jimmy Ostie, Brennon Bosley, Chip Bosley, Tyler Henderson and Tony Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers will be Turtle Creek, Haskell, Glen Rose, Traskwood and Lonsdale firefighters.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 24 at Ashby Funeral Home.

A Fire Fighter’s Honor Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Glen Rose with Bro. Todd Bray and lifelong friend Terry Patterson officiating. Interment will be at Fairplay Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church Youth Group in Glen Rose.
