Sammy T. Shinault
(July 11, 1946 – May 16, 2014)
Sam Shinault, 67, of Lepanto formerly of Jonesboro, died Friday, May 16, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Dell, Arkansas, Sam lived in Aurora, Illinois from 1965-1971 before moving to Jonesboro. He lived in Jonesboro before moving to Lepanto in 2001. Sam was a firefighter for the Jonesboro Fire Department where he served 25 years, retiring in 1998 with the rank of Captain. Sam was a long-time Training Officer for JFD and taught Emergency Medical Technicians through Delta Vo-Tech for over 30 years.
Sam attended the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Shinault and an infant brother, Marshall Glenn Shinault.
Survivors include his wife, Merlita Hall Shinault of the home; His mother, Helen Shinault of Paris, Tennessee; 2 Sons and daughter-in-law: Sam, Jr. and Laurie Shinault of Columbus, Georgia, and Hayden Weathers of Osceola; 2 Daughters and Son-in-law: Lisa Shinault Inabinet and her husband Robert Inabinet of Walls, Mississippi, and Layna Barnhart of Lepanto; 4 brothers and their wives: Harley and Shirley Shinault of Aurora, Illinois, Harvey and Teresa Shinault of Lepanto, Michael T. and Terrie Shinault, and Don and Jackie Shinault all of Paris, Tennessee; 1 sister, Louise Wilson-Hoeffner of San Antonio, Texas; 4 grandchildren: Brock Shinault, Blair Shinault, Robert (Trey) Inabinet, and Garrett Inabinet and a 5th grandchild to be born in October.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Daniel Nooner and Rev. Gary Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Potter Cemetery at Lepanto.
Active pallbearers include Todd Carr, Chad Timms, Larry Dulaney, K.C. Jones, Steve Beck and Billy Brown.
Honorary pallbearers include active and retired members of Jonesboro Fire Department and area EMS personnel.
