On October 12-13, 2012, the Conway Fire Department will host a special event in downtown Conway, Arkansas, called Firefighters for the Cure. The event will prove to be a fun filled weekend for the entire family. There will be a 5K race, a fire truck pull competition, a survivor’s parade, vendor booths, and headliner entertainment. The event will kick off Friday evening at 5PM with a pasta party at Mike’s Place, and race participants can pick up their packets across the street at Simon Park. After this, participants can enjoy the block party including entertainment provided by Yesteryear, a local band. The fire truck pull competition will also begin on Friday.
The Men for Mammaries 5K will begin on Saturday morning at 8:00AM. Men and women of all ages are invited to participate.
At noon the survivor’s parade will begin at the Bank of America building. Firefighters from across the state will escort breast cancer survivors and survivors of childhood cancers. Honor guards, bag pipers, and new and antique fire trucks from across the state will also be invited to be a part of the parade. Donna Terrell from Fox 16 News will serve as the Grand Marshall.
Throughout the day, there will be activities such as the fire truck pull competition; food, merchandise, and information vendor booths; and a dunking booth with politicians participating. Entertainment will be provided on the Kris Allen stage throughout the day including performances by Luke Williams at 5:30, Cory Lamb at 7:00, and Riverbilly at 8:30.
