Paramedic/Firefighter

Newport is seeking a Paramedic/Firefighter.

This is a full-time position with benefits. Paramedic will provide 911 and ambulance transportation services to the surrounding area. They work closely with the local community to increase their level of fire safety awareness in order to help prevent fires and accidents. Requires HS diploma or GED, valid DL and clean record. Must be 21 and pass drug screen, background check, and physical. Must have current paramedic license or be able to obtain license in Arkansas. Paramedic/Firefighter – City of West Memphis Fire Department

The City of West Memphis is seeking Paramedic/Firefighter. These are full time positions with benefits. Paramedic will provide outstanding 911 and ambulance transportation services to the surrounding area, and when working as Firefighters they respond to emergency situations and primarily protect people, the environment and property from all types of accident and emergencies. They work closely with the local community to increase their level of fire safety awareness in order to help prevent fires and accidents occurring in the first place.

Education, Experience and Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet the minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid Driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be 18 years of age and pass a drug screen, background check, physical, psychological evaluation, and agility test.
  • Must have an Arkansas Paramedic license or be able to obtain reciprocity as Arkansas Paramedic.

Salary: non-exempt $45,336 annually

Paramedic Courses this Fall at SEARK

Southeast Arkansas College in Pine Bluff has two paramedic courses this fall, and registration is now open.

Paramedic Course

  • Pine Bluff starting August 19 (12 months)
  • Grant County (Sheridan) in cooperation with Saline Memorial Hospital starting August 20 (17 months)

EMT Basic Course

  • Pine Bluff, August 20 from 9 am to 5 pm

SEARK Transitional & Refresher Course Flyer

Basic Designated Infection Control Officer Training Course

July 9-10, 2013
Springdale, Arkansas

This two-day course is designed to prepare the infection control officer to fully meet the requirements of the position under NFPA 1581, OSHA, and the Ryan White Law. The Ryan White Law states that each fire, EMS, or law enforcement agency must have a designated officer to manage exposure issues for the department. Understanding this role and the many aspects of this job is important to assist with department risk management and department member advocacy.

The role and responsibilities along with a job description are presented along with Step by step program formulation to enable the course participant to return to his/her workplace and set up a working program. A well trained designated officer will be an effective advocate for both the members of the department as well as the administration.

Emergency Medical Sciences Instructor/Clinical Coordinator (Full Time)

Responsibilities: Southeast Arkansas College is seeking full-time Emergency Medical Sciences Instructor/Clinical Coordinator for the 2013 Fall Semester. The successful applicant should have a minimum of five (5 years) experience in the field of paramedicine and three (3) years as an EMS Educator. They should have a positive student-centered attitude, a professional bearing, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and strong interpersonal skills. Candidate should be available for additional night and weekend classes when necessary.

Requirements: Associates Degree in EMS or related field (Bachelor’s preferred). Current Arkansas state and/or national certification as a Paramedic; Arkansas State EMS instructor certification. American Heart Association CPR Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS and/or PEPP instructor and PHTLS instructor. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, upon approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience; 9-mo. Contract with Summer Contract Option.
