Carrie Gifford, age 52, of Concord, Arkansas, passed away on September 28, 2015 in Batesville, Arkansas. Born on July 29, 1963 in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Bud Townsend and Mildred Davis Townsend.

Carrie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked an an Emergency Medical Technician for AET Ambulance. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Charles Gifford, her children Jessica Fuller and Tina of Beebe, Arkansas, Jennifer Brown of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Danielle Nichols of Drasco, Arkansas and Austin Jenkins of Concord, Arkansas, her half-brothes Bryan Stump and Michael O’Brien and her half-sister Melissa Davidson, and her seven grandchildren. Carrie is also survived by her other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Olmstead Funeral Home with Funeral Services being held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Olmstead Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

Michael C. Delaney – Fire Chief

Michael C. Delaney, 46, of Delight, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 12, 2015. He was born August 24, 1969 in Eugene, Oregon, the son of the late William (Son) Delaney and Carrietta Delaney, of Delight.

He leaves behind his family and many friends to mourn his passing.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, William (Son) Delaney, and sister, Linda (Delaney) Hecke.

He is survived by his mother, Carrietta Delaney and sister, Michelle Delaney of Delight, AR; one brother, David and sister-in-law, Darlene Delaney of Salem, Oregon and wife, Jennifer; and a special second father, Pat Davis of Delight; 2 nephews; 5 great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Michael was a Christian man who was devoted to caring for his family. He loved serving his community and helping those in need. Michael was a business owner, and dedicated Fire Chief, son, brother, and friend. A man who will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 18, at the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville, AR from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 19, at the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville, AR at 10:00 AM with Brother Jim Henderson, Brother Roger Genung, and Brother Pat Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Delight Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delight Rural Fire Department, 5125 Hwy 301 S., Delight, AR 71940 in care of Betty Rhodes.

Chelsea Elizabeth Ward – Dispatcher

Chelsea Elizabeth Ward, 26, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born on July 29, 1989, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and was the daughter of David and Christine Parker Ward.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Judy Parker; her paternal grandmother, Rose Marie Ward;aunt, Jennifer Parker Whitten; and uncle, Paul Ward.

Chelsea graduated from Piggott High School and was attending Blake River Technical College pursing a degree in Criminal Law. Chelsea was also working as a dispatcher for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.

She is survived by her newborn daughter, Parker Quinn Ward; parents, David and Christine Ward of Piggott, Arkansas; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Parker of Piggott, Arkansas; paternal grandfather, Dawl Ward of Campbell, Missouri; her best friend Heather Roberts and her daughter, Harper Roberts; her uncles, Shawn Parker and Allen Parker; uncle, Thomas Ward of Campbell, Missouri; aunts, Melissa and Rhonda Ward both of Campbell, Missouri; and numerous co-workers, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Charles Richardson officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers are the Clay County Sherriff Deputies: Blane McClung, Eric Donahue, Russ Latimer, Robert White, Michael Beasley, Tom Colbert, Cody Carter, and Terry Burden. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Jeff Crawford, 52, of Hot Springs passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 2, 1963 in Clinton, Iowa. He was a United States Marine Veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Jeff was a member of; ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers), SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers), NSMS (National Safety Management Society), Phi Sigma Epsilon, NESA (National Eagle Scout Association), NASP (National Association of Safety Professionals), NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians), American Legion Post #13, NRA Life Patron Member, NRA Golden Eagle, Eagle Scout, Alpha Chi and Gamma Beta Phi Academic Honors Societies, Henderson Reddie “H” Award

Survivors include his wife, Shelly Crawford; son, Ian Crawford; daughters, Hope (Kody) Garrison, Amber (Brian) Pate; three grandchildren, Ethan Garrison, Gabby Garrison and Astrid Crawford.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, at 12:00 noon at 1st Assembly of God Church with Minister B.J. Johnson officiating.

Burial will be at Memorial Gardens with EMS Honors

Wayne Hartness, 52, of Wooster, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 7, 2015. He was born on Saturday, November 17, 1962, in McGee, Arkansas to E. Juanita (Johns) Hartness and the late Robert F. Hartness.

He was survived by his loving wife of thirty-two years, Donna (Casteel) Hartness; his son, Clay Hartness and wife Heather his daughter, Ricki (Hartness) Isom and husband Steven; grandchildren; Harlee and Asher Hartness and Ella and Fisher Isom; brother, Lamar Hartness and wife Tina; sister, Glenda Priest and husband Eric; nephews, Billy, Kenny, and Matthew Hartness who stayed by his side; along with numerous other nieces, nephews, family, friends, and Fire Service Brothers .

Wayne was truly a humble hero in his community with three main passions in life: Faith, Family and Firefighting. He and his family attended First Baptist Church in Wooster where he served as deacon for many years. He served for thirty-four years as a volunteer firefighter for the Wooster community including ten years as chief. He gladly served the Conway Fire Department for twenty-three years as Engineer. During that time, he established new classes as an advocate for Cancer Awareness within the fire service. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, riding horses and playing sports with his kids. However, Wayne’s greatest joy was his role as “Papa” to his four beautiful grandchildren who had his heart.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Wooster First Baptist Church.

Funeral service is set for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015 at New Life Church in Conway with Brother Keith Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Myron Milholland officiating.

2015 AEMTA Fall Festival November 6th & 7th

Fall Festival will be held on November 6-7, 2015 in Magnolia, Ar. at The Southern Arkansas University, 100 East University Ave. Magnolia, AR.

The host hotels will be Hampton Inn and Suites, 128 Highway 79 South, Magnolia, AR, phone # 870-234-1800 and Holiday Inn Express, 1604 E. Main St, Magnolia, Ar. The rate is $109.00 per night for both Hotels, just be sure to tell them you are with the AEMTA Fall Festival to get this rate.

Remember this block of rooms with this rate expires October 22, 2015. If you reserve after October 22 the rate goes back to standard
rate and you aren’t guaranteed a room.

Fall Festival will start on Friday, November 6th with “The EMS Challenge”. This event will test your
ability to have fun, laugh at others and laugh at yourself with others. It will consist of teams of 2
people. Registration will begin at 13:00 -13:30. The EMS Challenge will start at 13:30 and run
until finished. I would like to issue a challenge to all Ambulance Services to enter a team. There
will be a $45.00 registration fee per team. There will also be a competition for first responders and
basic teams. A team consists of a two people and will also begin at 13:30. Also $45.00.

Registration for Spring Fling will open at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 6th, with opening
ceremonies beginning at 5:45 PM. Classes will start at 6:00 PM. The cost is only $45.00.
